The Garmin nuvifone(TM) G60 Coming Soon to AT&T Customers

AT&T* and Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. announced the Garmin nuvifone G60 will be available beginning October 4 only for AT&T customers in the U.S. in AT&T stores and online at www.wireless.att.com.

The nuvifone G60 provides one of the easiest-to-use location experiences available because it is the only phone to fully integrate the world’s best selling GPS navigator with voice, data and mobile web.

“Personal navigation devices are already all about mobility and taking the Garmin experience everywhere as your mobile phone is truly compelling for customers who travel often,” said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “We expect the nuvifone to be the guide for local restaurants, the least-expensive gas and the nearest coffee shop for many customers.”

“The nuvifone weaves location into nearly every facet of its functionality making it ideal for people who depend on location to navigate everyday life,” said Cliff Pemble, Garmin’s president and COO. “The nuvifone has Garmin’s easy-to-use interface, so navigating to a meeting directly from its calendar or contacts pages, or geotagging an email or photograph with a location stamp, is intuitive, useful and fun.”

Navigate with turn-by-turn guidance

The nuvifone G60 has the same core features as a high-end Garmin nuvi® and comes preloaded with maps and millions of points of interest (POI) for North America. Customers who purchase a nuvifone will have everything that they need to use the device as an in-car navigation unit including a dashboard and windshield mount. The device can easily be mounted in the car or detached for portable navigational use.

Because the maps reside on the nuvifone customers always have access to navigation and they can receive turn-by-turn voice-prompted directions that speak street names to millions of destinations. If a turn is missed along the route, the nuvifone will automatically recalculate a route and get the user back on track. The nuvifone is able to provide reliable location information in the most challenging conditions because it has a real GPS receiver with Garmin’s HotFix(TM) technology and assisted GPS.

The nuvifone also has a “Where am I?” feature so users will know their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, nearest address, intersection, hospital, police station and gas station with one touch of the screen. Another great feature of nuvifone is for users who cannot find their car in an unfamiliar spot or crowded parking lot, nuvifone will automatically mark the position in which it was last removed from the windshield mount.

Surf the web

Nuvifone customers are just one click away from a full HTML browser that can be accessed via the nation’s fastest 3G network, or AT&T’s more than 20,000 Wi-Fi hotspots. Garmin’s location link, which parses addresses on the web with latitude and longitude information, allows customers to easily navigate to addresses they discover on the web by simply touching the address. The touch-screen virtual keyboard which includes predictive text, is customizable to QWERTY or A to Z to allow customers to easily type in web addresses or send and receive text messages

Capture quality photos

The nuvifone G60 also includes a three megapixel camera with auto-focus. The camera automatically geotags images with an exact latitude and longitude reference of where the image was taken. Customers may then save the image so they can navigate back to the location, or email the geo-tagged image to others.

Stay connected

In addition to millions of preloaded POIs, customers can supplement the data with additional free and subscription content. The nuvifone includes free access to AT&T’s Yellow Pages, flight status and converter. Premium Connected Services gives customers subscription access to real-time traffic information, fuel prices, White Pages, weather and more.

Price and Availability

The nuvifone G60 will be available in AT&T stores or at www.wireless.att.com on October 4 for $299 with a two year service agreement after $100 mail-in-rebate. Nuvifone Premium Connected Services which includes traffic updates, white pages, weather, movie, local events and fuel price content are available for $5.99/month after a 30-day trial.

Coupling JBL’s reputation for cinema sound with Carl Tatz Design’s unparalleled customer service, international country superstar Jay DeMarcus recently had his home studio-recording complex upgraded with a JBL Synthesis Digital Home Theater System

Supplying a top of the line surround sound system to one of today’s most prominent international music artists, Carl Tatz Design installed a JBL Synthesis Home Theater System into Rascal Flatts bass guitarist Jay DeMarcus’ home studio complex, the Grip II Screening Lounge.  The system demonstrates the absolute finest sound quality that can be displayed in any home theater.

Included in the installation was a SAM3HA three array center speaker behind the screen, two SAM3VA three array speakers angled in on each side behind the acoustically transparent fabric and 4 S4Ai two-array surround speakers carefully installed inside of the coffered ceiling to complete the 7.1 system. All using JBL’s Synthesis technology, they are able to apply proprietary digital algorithms to improve the accuracy and timing of the signals arriving at the center channel- creating a larger, nearly perfect 360-degree soundscape.

“The first demo I gave Jay of the speakers just blew him away”, said Carl Tatz, Principal of Carl Tatz Design. “The Synthesis speakers are powerful, but at the same time they still provide a very smooth sound; and the Synthesis AV1 surround processor is as beneficial as any processor needs to be. For the money spent, you can’t find a better deal.”

The theater was done in a large L shaped room that is approximately 30 feet by 25 feet, with a large sectional for the screen wall viewing. DeMarcus’ lounge can fit a large number of people without disrupting the performance of the audio.

“The former owners had some sort of toy system that I had never listened to,” continued Tatz. “Comparing the old system in place to the current one with the synthesis speakers would be like comparing a roller skate to a Mercedes; it doesn’t come close. They are true cinema speakers with real compression drivers. Their performance is unrivalled in a home cinema room. ”

DeLorme, the innovation leader in mapping and GPS technology, today announced the release of its Street Atlas USA 2010 software for travel planning, road routing, and GPS navigation.

The Street Atlas USA 2010 line includes the standard version and also Street Atlas USA 2010 PLUS, for businesses and advanced users.

New in this latest release is the E-Z Nav Wizard, a dynamic searching and routing feature that dramatically simplifies on-the-go travel planning when used in conjunction with a DeLorme Earthmate GPS receiver.

Also included are more than 300,000 new and revised roads, and updated places of interest.

In addition, the PLUS version’s 120 million residential and business phone numbers for the U.S. and Canada include new and revised listings. Beyond data updates, Street Atlas USA 2010 supports netbooks and is among the early software titles that run on the new Windows 7 operating system.

Even with all the freely available online map sources, DeLorme is still enjoying robust sales of both titles. “Our customers prefer a full-featured mapping software product that is not dependent on Internet connections,” said Caleb Mason, DeLorme Vice President. “That’s especially important for people who spend a great deal of time in their vehicles for either recreation or business.”

New E-Z Nav Route Wizard
Street Atlas USA titles have long provided the proprietary DeLorme GPS Radar feature for locating and routing to upcoming restaurants, lodgings, gas stations, travel services, and attractions while navigating with an Earthmate receiver.

The new E-Z Nav route wizard significantly streamlines the process. Users choose from among common travel categories and drill down to select the location they want from an easy-to-read icon-based menu system.

For example, when searching for restaurants, users click on Food & Restaurants, which takes them to a screen with 20 different choices (e.g. barbecue, Italian, Greek, steak houses); upon selection of a category, the next screen offers nearby choices within that category sorted by distance from your GPS location. When the desired restaurant is selected, the user can see its location on the map, and create a route to follow.

In addition to Food & Restaurants, the E-Z Nav search options include Auto & Travel (gas stations, rest areas, accommodations, airports, 12 categories in all), Shopping & Recreation (entertainment, historic sites, shopping malls, retailers by specialty, nine categories in all), and Emergency & Community (hospitals, emergency services, religious institutions, schools & libraries, eight categories in all); there are two other options; for Address or Location, the user fills in the desired location (a street address or known location, e.g. stadium, theater); for My Locations, the user searches among his or her pre-established address book listings, waypoints, or recently-visited locations.

Up-to-date Detail, Netbook Support
Both Street Atlas USA 2010 titles include extensive street and road updates; this includes new construction, street and road extensions, and road name changes mandated by Emergency 9-1-1 implementation.

In addition, both titles offer support for the new generation of compact netbook PCs. This is in keeping with DeLorme’s longstanding support of new hardware platforms as they arise, including personal digital assistants (PDAs), touchscreen phones, and ultra-mobile PCs. Street Atlas USA 2010 can be downloaded to netbooks without optical drives from leading online reseller download sites.

Updated Places of Interest
Added places of interest includeAmtrak stations, subway/metro stops in numerous cities, and major college stadiums, and ATMs have been elevated to the Major POIs category. In addition, users can now import files from the POI Factory website (POI-Factory.com).

Full-Featured Mapping Software
Since it was first introduced nearly two decades ago, Street Atlas USA has been at the forefront of mapping software innovation, with numerous first-to-market advances including automatic routing with automatic back-on-track, voice-guided navigation, integrated aerial imagery, mosaic and large-format printing, MapShare for sending maps and routes to others, and much more.

Widely Available
DeLorme Street Atlas USA 2010 titles, as well as the Earthmate LT-40 laptop GPS (which includes Street Atlas USA 2010), can be found at major electronics resellers (both their retail store and online sites), as well as top Websites. They can also be purchased at www.delorme.com
