Two new models to be showcased at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

AnyDATA Corporation, a global leader in the design and manufacture of wireless communications devices, announces two leading-edge Windows smartphones for carrier distribution, the ASP-318 and the ASP-518. Both devices are loaded with multimedia features that provide consumers with a rich entertainment experience on AnyDATA smartphones.

The ASP-318 is a low-cost and affordable Windows Mobile smartphone for cellular subscribers, such as students and enterprise workers who previously may have only considered a mid-tier feature phone. The AnyDATA smartphone utilizes the media-rich Mediatek MT6516 application processor that is designed for entry-level smartphones. It provides a rich multimedia experience for cellular subscribers on existing 2G GSM networks.

The ASP-318 smartphone features Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional, a 3.2-inch color touch screen, GPS to support navigation and LBS applications, an accelerometer, dual SIM, EDGE/GPRS modem, a micro SD slot for memory expansion, and an FM radio. The ASP-318 also has a 3.2 megapixel camera with built-in flash, autofocus, and macro-mode to focus on close-up images.

Based on its recent partnership with SRS Labs, AnyDATA plans to further enhance the ASP-318 with SRS TruMedia, which improves the audio performance with remarkable depth and clarity. The ASP-318 operates globally on quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz bands. The AnyDATA ASP-318 will be commercially available in 2nd quarter, 2010 and will be marketed as the iMedia smartphone.

The ASP-518 is a 3G dual mode smartphone currently marketed by China Telecom utilizing the well-known Phillips brand. The phone has a striking design with tapered edges that look sharp and assist in gripping the phone. The ASP-518 smartphone features Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional, GPS navigation, a brilliant 3.2-inch WVGA screen, WiFi, 4 gigabytes of memory, as well as a micro SD memory slot.

The ASP-518 is optimal for travelers or subscribers with two phone numbers since it supports dual SIMs and dual standby. The phone operates simultaneously on 3G CDMA EVDO Rev A networks as well as GSM 900/1800 networks. The smartphone also has dual cameras, namely a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera for taking high-quality photos and a front-facing camera to enable mobile video-conferencing. The ASP-518 features the MSM7627 3G processor from Qualcomm.

The ASP-518 will also be equipped with superb audio that utilizes SRS technology. Audio performance has become a significant purchasing factor as consumers shop for more sophisticated phones. In a recent MarketTools study conducted in November 2009, 92 percent of survey respondents indicated the quality of sound is important or very important when purchasing a mobile phone.

LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. will be showcasing the advanced capabilities of Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in the LG stand (booth #8205) at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. The company will demonstrate one of the world’s first LTE download speed of 100Mbps. LTE is dubbed as the world’s next generation mobile communication service technology.

By connecting to the LG’s LTE USB Modem, LG presented one of the world’s first real-time demonstrations of full HD video files, video conferences and web-surfing at speeds up to 100Mbps for downloads and 50Mbps for uploads. To put this technology in perspective, imagine being able to download an entire movie to your mobile phone in only one minute. Demonstrating data downloads at such an incredible speed marked yet another technological milestone for LG.

LG will also be unveiling to the public the “handover” technology which enables seamless network conversion between LTE and CDMA networks. Using the even slimmer version of the previous 4G LTE device, an LG proprietary device designed for the Handover last August, LG demonstrated seamless and endless data transmissions between LTE and CDMA antennas which allows for video file downloads, web surfing and internet calling.

Also LG and Verizon Wireless are collaborating to demonstrate the advanced capabilities and applications made possible by LTE networks. During CES 2010, the Verizon Wireless Innovation Center which fosters an environment for companies to develop applications, products and services for 4G LTE technology, is demonstrating several applications and Innovation Center member LG Mobile Phones is a key participant.

LG provided the LTE connectivity modules and devices to support the advanced capabilities of the demonstration LTE network and collaborated with other companies for developing the following:

— Home monitoring solutions, including a home gateway provides home security monitoring with a security camera, as well as energy management and home appliance monitoring from a web portal and a smartphone.
— An indoor/outdoor IP security camera providing a home surveillance video stream that can be monitored via a web portal or a smartphone.
— A video conferencing product transmitting a camera-captured IP video through a 4G connection to other devices supporting a multi-user video conference.

Nokia announced the Nokia 6788, its first device for TD-SCDMA – China’s domestic 3G standard, at an event in Beijing. The Nokia 6788 is the result of close collaboration between Nokia and the world’s largest mobile phone operator, China Mobile.

Speaking at the event, said Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, CEO of Nokia: “Nokia sees TD-SCDMA as being central to the successful evolution of 3G in China, and so is fully committed to this 3G standard. With a wide range of integrated China Mobile applications, the Nokia 6788 marks a new level of collaboration with China Mobile and offers enriched experiences to China’s 3G users. Nokia plans to introduce more TD-SCDMA phones in the near future, further boosting the development of this 3G standard in China.”

The Nokia 6788 is specifically designed for China Mobile’s network and offers rich data services. It is an all-in-one device that provides its users with faster Internet speeds and download times. Featuring a 5-megapixel (2592 x1944) camera with a dual-LED flash, a 2.8″ QVGA display, and the hugely-successful Symbian S60 platform, the Nokia 6788 allows people to instantly share the things that matter to them most.

Inspired by traditional Chinese furniture and architecture, the Nokia 6788 incorporates Chinese design elements including traditional Chinese patterns on the back of the slide and the battery cover. The Nokia 6788 is expected to become available at the end of December 2009.


TD-SCDMA (time division synchronous code division multiple access) is a 3G mobile telephone standard developed by the China Academy of Telecommunications Technology (CATT).

TD-SCDMA combines support for both circuit-switched data, such as speech or video, and packet-switched data from the Internet. The standard combines time division multiple access (TDMA) with an adaptive, synchronous-mode code division multiple access (CDMA) component.
