The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu will give customers a higher level of in-vehicle wireless connectivity and customized infotainment options, thanks to Chevy’s MyLink.
The all-new Malibu will be one of the first vehicles to offer Chevrolet MyLink – an in-car infotainment package that builds on the safety and security of OnStar. It seamlessly integrates online services such as Pandora internet radio and Stitcher SmartRadio using hands-free voice and touch-screen controls via Bluetooth-enabled phones.
Chevy fans are celebrating Chevrolet’s 100th anniversary on Pandora with a dedicated Chevrolet station playing the Top 100 songs mentioning the brand. Among them are “American Pie” by Don McLean, “Crocodile Rock” by Elton John, “Little Red Corvette” by Prince and “Tim McGraw” by Taylor Swift. (Top 100 playlist is at the end of this release.)
Pandora has more than 100 million users in the U.S. and more than 600 songs across all genres that currently mention Chevrolet, Chevy or the name of a Chevy vehicle in their lyrics. The dedicated Chevy station is scheduled to go live Wednesday. To access the station, Pandora® users should visit www.Pandora.com/chevy100.
“Car buyers considering the all-new 2013 Chevy Malibu don’t have to settle for mass market radio,” said Jon Hahn, Malibu marketing manager. “They want the option to create their own individual stations and have access to them wherever they are. MyLink makes media personalization easy for consumers on the go.” Read the rest of this entry »
Responding to the popularity of mobile browsing, Subaru of America has announced new iPad applications based on its 2011 model digital brochures. The free apps allow consumers to explore the 2011 Subaru Outback, Forester and WRX/STI on the iPad interface, with 360-degree views, videos and interactive demonstrations.
In the second quarter of fiscal year 2011, Apple sold 4.69 million iPads. In addition, 41 percent of U.S. adults noted shopping as a reason for interest in purchasing the iPad.(i) With consumers primed to shop on their iPads, Subaru’s new apps enhance the auto research experience by offering trim simulators along with engineering and Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive feature demonstrations.
Alan Bethke, Director, Marketing Communications, Subaru of America, Inc. explains: “Car shoppers are researching everything from financing to auto insurance on their mobile devices. Making these apps available gives car shoppers a convenient and interactive way to explore Subaru vehicles and technology, and it also aligns with our environmental efforts.”
The apps build on Subaru’s environmentally friendly practices – such as its zero-landfill manufacturing plants – by reducing paper usage, energy consumption, inks and production waste. Beyond the environmental benefits, the iPad apps offer consumers additional choices of how to get information and give them new ways to compare models, experience the Subaru brand and share the experience.
The free apps can be downloaded to the iPad or iPad2.
With gas prices 73 cents higher per gallon than last year, the AAA TripTik Mobile app for iPhone helps motorists compare prices at nearby stations
Many Americans are feeling anxiety at the pump as the price of a tank of gas has increased more than 25 percent since the same time last year. As a result of this increase, finding the lowest prices is becoming a top priority for motorists as fuel costs consume a larger chunk of their household budget. Those with an Apple iPhone can save time comparing costs by using the AAA TripTik Mobile application, the first free app to offer access to frequently updated gas prices.
AAA TripTik Mobile is a GPS-based app with maps showing gas station locations and other points of interest, such as hotels, restaurants and attractions, near a user’s location or any user-specified location. Gas station details include updated prices for all available grades of gasoline. New preference settings allow users to show prices for just their preferred grade and sort stations alphabetically or by distance.
Hotel and restaurant information includes AAA’s Diamond Ratings based on professional in-person inspections. There’s also an option to call for lodging reservations with the touch of a button. The AAA TripTik Mobile app also provides maps and turn-by-turn directions to other points of interest including local events, AAA offices and Approved Auto Repair facilities, as well as user-entered addresses. The app can recalculate routes and provide voice guidance for the next maneuver. Read the rest of this entry »
